The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has upgraded our air pollution alert for Southern Idaho. We’re now at a code Red. This is bad.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Red Alert for unhealthy and sensitive groups due to elevated pollutant levels. The advisory will remain in effect until air quality conditions significantly improve.

Air pollutants can cause breathing difficulties for children, the elderly, as well as those with respiratory problems. Everyone, especially those who are sensitive to airborne pollutants, are encouraged to limit or avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity.

If it is a regularly scheduled work or school day, you are urged to:

  • Car pool, telecommute, or use mass transit
  • Avoid idling your vehicle
  • Delay fueling your vehicle until late in the day
  • Reduce the use of gasoline-powered equipment or delay until late in the day.
